Updated on Feb 20, Waves Audio, a leading provider of digital signal processing solutions and digital music production tools, is now shipping the Waves Bass Slapper, an addition to its expanding line of virtual instruments. Slap bass is one of the most popular styles of bass playing. Over the years there have been many attempts to sample the sound and recreate it as a virtual instrument, but nothing has come close to the sound of recording a great bass player who has mastered this technique. Until now.

Presenting Bass Slapper – Slap Bass Plugin

Ned’s a Hockey fan and there’s just something about this demo that makes us think he secretly would like to be “fightin’ on the ice”! Great example of how Trilian can be more than a little rude! The “sub kick” sound is super, super low you won’t hear it on small speakers at all is actually a Trilian Bass sound. This is featuring the Modern Funk Bass, which was originally from Trilogy, but also appears in Trilian.

Amazing use of Trilian for all musical parts. Richard Souther does some very smoky and cool riffing here with the original Trilogy Upright Bass – which is also included in Trilian. The lead sound is also coming from Trilian. Enhanced version is included in Trilian. The percussion and drums are all coming from Stylus RMX, and the ambient vocals and granular textures are coming from Omnisphere Tob is one of the principal contributors to the RMX Core Library, so he knows it like the back of his hand.

Daniel Forsblom’s killer guitar work is one of the highlights of this track. This bass is also available in Trilian in enhanced form. This is a good example of how effective Trilian can be in a non-pop setting.

There’s a bit of it all here, True Staccato triggering, double stops, Slides and glisses. The beauty is that Ned was able to play all of this very easily all from the main “True Staccato” patch You can almost feel the smoke of the club You can hear the Hammer-ons, trills, Pops and release noises really well here Makes all the difference in the world to have so many different articulations available for the same electric bass.

All the Clavs, Wah-wah and synth comping parts are from Trilian too. Alex creates a short demo of a nice little reggae track, using the Classic Muted Electric section. Nick improvised this piece in two passes: Nick used the Solo Legato mode to great effect here, as you can hear how smooth it plays Philippe starts right off showing the warmth and smooth triggering of Trilian’s Moog and Oberheim synth Basses. The beautiful “Air Pad” is from Omnisphere.

Once the B section kicks in you’ll hear the “Marcus” style melody from the Modern Funk bass, which is mixed with some Trilian synth doubles for the lead. Believe it or not, the cool Rhodes sound is the “Jaco Harmonics” from Trilian. Notice also how well all the synths sounds work together here The Classic Pick Bass is used in the bridge.

Completely RMX core library for the grooves too Lots of peppy fun Really sounds like an old disco soul record We posted this demo twice to show the flexibility of the Acoustic Bass sounds, which have both Tube Mics and Direct Pickup signals This version shows a mix favoring the Microphone, with some added Room ambience.

The other file shows the same demo with more of the pickup and just a little of the Mic. This version shows more of the dry pickup signal and just a little of the Microphone.

The other version shows the same demo with a mix favoring the Microphone, with some added Room ambience. Cool use of the harmonics at the end too! Ending ambience is from Atmosphere. All the synths are from Trilian, except for the pad which is coming from Omnisphere.
